In our experience, the most important driver of performance in a health system or hospital medical group is the partnership between senior hospital/health system executives and employed providers.
To create better alignment between providers and health system executives, we recommend implementing a council model at both the medical group level and the individual practice level.
You may already be using a council model, or something like it, even if you call it by another name. It may be a formal governing body, or it may be a more informal committee that includes health system executives and providers. Either way, this survey will help you determine how well your current system is working and whether you need to restructure your governance framework to more effectively engage your providers in decision-making to improve medical group performance.
